Personal Best
Today I ran my Best 5K EVER! The only downside to my story was that it was run on a treadmill at the local YMCA due to rain. I did however enjoy some great music, provided by my iPod shuffle. I started with a little Coldplay followed by the Arctic Monkeys. What really got me going was Collective Soul. I can't remember the name of the song, but I played it over and over 3 times. I was, I think, in the ZONE. I typically hate running on a treadmill because they are too easy to stop and get off. Anyway....I picked a spot on the wall in front of me, visualized that my head was attached to a pulley, and ran as fast as my little legs could go. The guy to my side kept looking back at me. I'm sure he thought I was running a little loud. I have a tendency to sound like a heard of elephants when I walk and it worsens as I run. Something I need to work on.

I hope I don't sound too boastful, but I typically run 2 minutes slower than I did today. I had a great run at 23 minutes and maybe 10 seconds. Pete keeps telling me that I need to wear a hear rate monitor and keep track of all these different things. I just want to run (and bike) and have a great time doing it. I'm not training for any specific race, unless you count the Evansville 5K, so why do I need to put more thought into it than necessary? Maybe I haven't reached the point where I will have to keep track of such things......who knows what's to come.

I did my first Multi Sport competition last month and feel really good about it. It was a duathlon, which was a 2 mile run, 20 mile bike, ending with another 2 mile run. I ran this in my hometown. Sorry to say I knew no one except the race director and the 50 year old competitor that taught me how to swim as a child. I was so hoping that someone from my high school would be there. I love competition!!!!! It's what drives me. Am I crazy? I don't know.
