Yesterday started out to be a typical day, but soon changed to anything but.

Most of our close friends know that we have been trying to conceive since this past year, puppies that is. Our Lab Lucy is having a little trouble with getting pregnant.

We have had two failed Artificial Insemination's and we are now trying a third breeding, but going at it in a whole new way. The all Natural Method. The one I think Lucy will prefer.

So...yesterday morning I took Lucy to see Dr. Steadly, in Providence, KY, about a 30 minute drive from Henderson. As soon as we arrived he did what he calls a smear. No...Bagels were not included. By doing this smear the vet was able to determine what stage of her cycle Lucy was in. We had planned another A.I.(stud from Michigan)but the test showed that we did not have enough time to have the goods shipped. Lucy needed to be bred within a 24 hour period. This started another ball rolling and my quick trip to Indiana, about a 5-6 hour drive. The boys enjoyed the ride plus I dropped them off with Meme on the way. My father rode with me the rest of the way so everyone was happy. It was a great time to catch up with my dad. He's a talker.

Anywway, we finally arrived at our destination where BRAVO, a beautiful blocky English Lab waiting for us. Bravo was so excited to see Lucy and me as well.

The rest is a secret. This is a family blog and it wasn't pg.

I hope to in the next 65 days (not everyday) write about and share our Hagen Family experience while documenting Lucy's pregnancy. I promise pictures and maybe some dialogue from Lucy herself and how she is feeling.

I hope I'm not premature in posting this today. This could all fall apart as it has in the past. I'm trying to be optomistic for the boys sake and for mine.

I hope you enjoy our new journey and the cycle of life through a dogs eyes.
