Let it snow

There is an actual fire in the firelace. You just can see it.
I am so excited that school was canceled today. I actually prayed for snow last night. This morning I got out of bed, took off my night gown only to put on my comfier DK PJ's. Today will be a day of hanging out with the boys. I'm sure at some point today we will make Chocolate Chip Cookies and have a good play in the snow. Sam mentioned last night that he wants a fire in the fireplace. I think we can handle that too.
When we get a snow day it takes me back to when I was a child. We lived 13 mile out in the county. My mom would always have something special planned for us. My brothers and sisters and I would play in the snow for hours or until we got too cold to enjoy it. Our neighbors had a huge pasture full of cows and the best hills ever. We could spend hours on those hills. Afterwards we would come in and mom would have hot chocolate waiting for us. It was homemade hot chocolate..not the fake kind in the little pouches. It's so funny, because my parents tell us kids that they struggled financially when we were younger(6 kids), but we never knew it. We had a nice home, clothes and plenty of food...and Homemade Hot Chocolate! It was the BEST!
My parents still live in the house that I grew up in after 36 years. We still play and sled on those same hills. We still have hot chocolate and cookies. The only thing different is that I get to share these experiences with Pete and the boys.
Life is so good even if you don't get the fancy hot chocolate packets!
On a little side note I just overheard Rley and Sam talking while in the bathroom. Riley said to Sam..."this is the bestest day ever, "You me, mom and dad".... and then went on to talk about playing in the snow. Life is so good!
Then there's Blanket World. The boys got out A LOT of blankets and put them all on the floor. This all happened before 7:30 this morning. Guess who gets to clean up this mess?
