As I lay in my bed while watching KARE 11 news and sip my coffee I am ever so reminded of how cold a Minnesota winter can be. This morning is a frigid -11 degrees with a wind chill of 30 below. Way below the average for February. We are not suppose to have these negative temps this time of the year.

Bitter cold with morning wind-chills near -35 below and then afternoon wind-chills around -18 below as winds decrease to less than 10 mph during the mid afternoon hours.Total Lunar Eclipse tonight begins at 7:43 P.M. and last until 11:09 P.M. - skies for that event will be clear and temperatures will be near -4 below with light and variable winds.

Several Schools are delayed today due to the wind chill. Sam and Riley will not have outside recess today and will have to dress as alway, with snow pants, hat, gloves, coat and boots. Something that they are used to doing, but getting tired of.

With having said all of the above.....
Old Man Minnesota Winter....You WIN!

Due to the lack of warm temperatures and poor running conditions there has been a change in plans of attempting the Flying Pigs Marathon in Cincinnati, OH. Not just a race for us, but a reunion of friends. It is just as hard breaking this news as it has been to train indoors on the track and treadmill and to realize that I have failed.

I will however not hold this winter against Minnesota. I will not let this one season
take away my joy and love for the warm Spring and Summer and the beautiful Fall that is to come.

So, to my friends who will be missed in May, the best of training to all of you. Enjoy what you are doing and remember why you are running.

Also, here's an open invitation to run
Grandmas
with us in late June.

I know that this must be something of a bitter sweet moment for you guys. Being both relieved at not having to spend another moment chained to a "dread-mill" coupled with the regret of letting go a set goal. Knowing the blended pleasure of not having to cope with the ordeal of modern travel, not to mention the cost, but feel the pang of regret at missing the chance for the adventure of travel.

I respect all your decisions not to run "The Pig". But I will say that I am greatly saddened that I won't get to see you guys. I guess it just means when the Minnesota Ice Age passes (about mid July) we will have to make a trip up to see you guys.

Thank you both for understanding.
It looks like the half has already filled up in just 2 days. Pete is going to try to go through Target to get us a slot. Target is a big Sponsor of the race.
Yep....you have to get up here sometime. We have endless trails to run....some that I not even dare.

Me too. I can't wait for warm sunny days and running our 6 mile loop, laying poolside with fresh veggies and good ole creek time with the kids. I can't wait for mimi's best cold water and her famous macaroni salad, chips and salsa and fresh blackberry pie and good friends. I have to keep looking forward to all of these events so I don't go crazy!
I miss you so much!!!!!!
